Horseback Riding Summer Camp 2017



Horseback Riding Camp - June 26 to Aug 4th  
Six, one week camps. Sign up for one or all 6. Open to all horse loving kids between the ages of 8 to 15 who want to learn about horses and how to ride. Daily activities include equine education, fun and a great foundation in horseback riding and care. Campers learn about safety, teamwork, responsibility, animal husbandry, barn management, and animal behavior. On Friday of each week parents are invited to watch their kids exhibit their skills on horseback. Campers will enjoy a packed week which is sure to fulfill all their horsy needs.

Polo Camp - Aug 14 to Aug 18
Polo Camp is for youth who would like to try the sport or for the experienced player who would learn more and improve skills. The AM session is for riders that can walk, trot and canter under control. Focus on arena strategy, field positioning, offensive and defensive strategies, penalties, conversion and riding. The PM session is for riders that can walk and trot comfortably under control. Riders learn the basics of polo, hitting, equipment, rules and safety. Open to anyone over the age of 8 yrs old.
$225.00 for AM or PM
$10.00 discount for each additional sibling $10.00 discount off total payment before April 15

                                                       Camp FAQ

What do they do at camp? 

In addition to daily riding and horse care instruction, camp includes arts & crafts, out door games and nature walks in Fairmount Park.

What should my child wear and bring to camp ?

~ long pants~ closed toe shoes, preferably with a heel, no crocs~ a change of clothes for water games~ a packed lunch~ water~ snack optional ~ we do have a wonderful fountain that dispenses tasty Philadelphia water.

How many campers are enrolled?

Weekly enrollment is limited to 20 campers per week. Riders are grouped according to ability.

Are there any days that camp is cancelled ? 

No, camp runs rain or shine. In case of inclement weather activities will be held inside. We will be holding camp on July 4th. 

What does a normal day look like?

Campers arrive by 9:00 am and assemble at the picnic table for roll call. They are then divided into groups. One group gathers for equine education sessions and the other group goes to the barn for horse/pony assignments. Riders are paired for the day and groom and tack their horse/pony and ride. Riders typically ride for about an hour per day.
