Strawberry raced well this spring and had various kids ride her in races but jockey's Shariah Harris and Sydney Rutledge were responsible to getting her across the finish line to win the Delaware Valley Point to Point large pony division in 2012. She tied for 1st place with Super Sally and received a beautiful leather halter for her efforts.
Chamounix Stable made it's annual trek to the NW Horse show in May. It's a tradition which all of the Chamounix Students and WTR students look forward to every year. A couple dozen kids spend Saturday bathing horses, cleaning tack and getting show clothes together. Its a herculean effort and thank goodness we don't have to braid manes and tails! Everyone rode out of the arena with ribbons and some championships. We were especially proud of Sheree for finishing her courses despite her recalcitrant mount Jane.
The Cowtown/Work to Ride team of Daymar Rosser, Brandon Rease and Julia Smith took the SE Regional Polo Tournament by storm as they defeated the young talented team from Natania, VA 24 to 9. The Natania team, while having a lot of raw talent, had a hard time keeping up with seasoned CT/WTR team. Julia Smith, new to the CT/WTR open team this year, proved that you never play a girl for a miss.
Every spring the crew from Chamounix Stable participates in pony racing at the local point to point steeple chase races in the Unionville area. This year we will have three or four of our younger girls ages 9 to 11 racing for the first time. last week alone at the Brandywine Valley pony races we have 6 kids racing ! It was fabulous and made possible by local horsewoman and veterinarian Rose Nolan who lent us two of her daughters ponies to race.
